The electrical work initially planned for June 9th has been postponed and is now scheduled for July 7, 2025.
A partial power shutdown of the Stanford Research Computing Facility (SRCF), where Sherlock is hosted, is scheduled for Monday, July 7th, to perform required electrical work in the datacenter.
This will only affect a portion of Sherlock 4.0 compute nodes, as well as some login nodes and DTNs, which will be unavailable in two waves, between 8am and 6pm.
Sherlock will remain up and operational during that period.
Users will still be able to log in, transfer files, submit jobs and access all their files. But job execution may be delayed, as some compute nodes will be unavailable.
A maintenance reservation has been created in the scheduler, so jobs that can’t be completed before the downtime will be held until after the machine is back in production.
